The Council of Scientific Advisors provides guidance and perspectives on scientific issues relevant to the practice of occupational and environmental medicine (OEM).
The Council’s objectives are to:
- Assist ACOEM’s BOD and officers to identify and address scientific issues and controversies of importance to OEM practice;
- Assist ACOEM’s BOD and officers to identify and address scientific issues and controversies of importance to the healthfulness of the environment;
- Assist other ACOEM councils, committees, and other professional organizations in addressing scientific issues and controversies of importance to OEM practice;
- Develop or facilitate development of position statements and guidance documents on scientific issues of importance to OEM practice and the environment; and
- Develop or facilitate development of responses to proposed governmental regulations and advisory standards of importance to OEM practice and the environment.
